Learning
Our play-based curriculum embraces the concept of "Belonging, Being, and Becoming" from the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). This is a child-initiated, adult-facilitated program. We support children to learn through active exploration and interactions with their peers, educators, and the environment.
What that looks like day-to-day: educators observe what each child is interested in, and shape the next day's experiences around those observations. Programs are not built around set themes. They follow the children.
Partnerships
We strive for a culture of mutual trust and open communication with our families. We build strong connections with our wider community, in particular the local schools that our preschool children move on to.
We use the OWNA app to share photos, observations, and reflections with parents in real time. We send mid-year and end-of-year developmental reports. And we stay available for face-to-face conversations whenever you want one.
Environment
Our centre provides a calm, stable, welcoming environment. We have wide, open spaces that encourage children to explore and discover on their own terms. The room layouts are deliberately designed to invite children in: materials at child height, quiet corners for retreat, open zones for collaborative play.
Our team
We value a team approach, where all educators are respected and encouraged to work together in a supportive environment. We encourage professional development and reflective practices within our centre.
That commitment shows up in our retention. Hayley has been here since 2000. Rochelle since 2005. Jacque, our director, since 2006. The team that's here when your child starts is, in all likelihood, the same team that will be here when they leave for school.
Sustainability
We take an active role as a community to do our part in caring for our environment and contributing to a sustainable future. Children learn about reducing waste, recycling, looking after living things, and the natural cycles of the seasons through their everyday experiences at the centre.
Community
We recognise that our community is a socially diverse and multicultural society. As a centre we recognise and value this diversity. The children at our centre grow up alongside children whose families come from many cultural backgrounds, and that is part of how they learn about the world.
Acknowledgement of Country
Our centre acknowledges the land that we play and learn on is the traditional land of the Darug and Guringai peoples. We pay our respect to the Elders past, present and future as we thank them for sharing and caring for the land we play on.
