Pennant Hills is just south of us, easily reached via Pennant Hills Road or via the back streets through Thornleigh. We have several Pennant Hills families currently enrolled.
For Pennant Hills families, Normanhurst Child Care is a familiar choice for the long-tenured team and the small centre size. The drive is straightforward: down Pennant Hills Road, or across through Thornleigh. Most Pennant Hills families tell us the trip is about 5-7 minutes outside peak hour.
We take children from 6 weeks to 6 years across three age-banded rooms. Babies join the Possum Room (birth to 2) with 1 educator to every 4 children. Toddlers move to the Koala Room (2 to 3) at 1 educator to 5 children, and the Emu Room (3 to 6) runs at 1 to 10 with a deliberate school-readiness focus. Many families enrol a baby and stay right through, which means one drop-off, one set of educators who know your family, and no change of centre at three.
In the year before school, the Emu Room program works on the practical skills that make kindergarten easier: managing belongings, listening in a group, early literacy and numeracy through play, and the confidence to have a go. Children leave us well prepared for the local public and independent schools Pennant Hills families choose.
Normanhurst Child Care Centre is a long day care centre on Denman Parade, a short drive north of Pennant Hills. We've been here since October 1997. 3 age-banded rooms (Possum 0-2, Koala 2-3, Emu 3-6), a long-tenured team with several Early Childhood Teacher qualifications between them, and our own cook preparing all meals on site daily.
Centre Director Jacque has been with us since 2006. Educational Leaders Hayley and Rochelle have both been here for over 20 years. For Pennant Hills families, that long-tenured team is often what makes the slightly longer drive worth it.
Our cook Dianne prepares five meals a day in the centre kitchen, working from a 4-week rotating menu approved under the NSW Munch & Move program. The kitchen is nut-aware, and allergies and intolerances are managed by Dianne where the food is made. Every meal is included in the daily fee, so there are no lunchboxes to pack.
Settling in is gradual. Orientation visits come first, then shorter days if your child needs them, building up to the full routine at their pace. From day one the OWNA app sends updates with photos, meals and sleep times, so the drive back to Pennant Hills comes with no guesswork about how the day went. The centre is rated Meeting under the National Quality Standard.
Daily fees are $185 (Possum, 0-2), $175 (Koala, 2-3), and $164 (Emu, 3-6), with all meals, sunscreen, a bucket hat and the education program included. Disposable nappies and baby formula included for the Possum and Koala rooms. We're Child Care Subsidy approved, so most families pay considerably less than the headline rate. Try the gap-fee calculator on the homepage to estimate your out-of-pocket cost.
Tours run during the week, at quieter moments. We show you all three rooms, the kitchen, the outdoor area, and you meet Jacque and the educators. Tours take about 30 minutes. Book through the form on the homepage, or call us on 02 9487 5455.
