Thornleigh is one stop south of Normanhurst on the train, and most of Thornleigh is within a five-minute drive. We have many Thornleigh families currently enrolled.
Thornleigh families often choose us because the daily logistics work. Normanhurst Station is one stop on the train, parking is available at the centre on Denman Parade, and most of Thornleigh is within a few minutes' drive. The Pennant Hills Road end of Thornleigh is about five minutes away even in traffic.
Normanhurst Child Care Centre is a long day care centre on Denman Parade, one train stop north of Thornleigh. We've been here since October 1997. 3 age-banded rooms (Possum 0-2, Koala 2-3, Emu 3-6), a long-tenured team with several Early Childhood Teacher qualifications between them, and our own cook preparing all meals on site daily.
Centre Director Jacque has been with us since 2006. Educational Leaders Hayley and Rochelle have both been here for over 20 years. For Thornleigh families, having the same educators across years means siblings often pass through the same room together.
Children are grouped into three rooms. The Possum Room takes babies from 6 weeks to 2 years at a ratio of 1 educator to 4 children, with days built around each baby's own sleeps and feeds. The Koala Room covers the busy 2 to 3 year old stage at 1 educator to 5 children, and the Emu Room (3 to 6, 1 educator to 10) carries children through to school. Starting in one room and moving up through the centre means your child keeps familiar faces at every step, and moves between rooms happen when your child is ready, not on a fixed date.
The Emu Room runs a school-readiness program through the year before kindergarten: group routines, early literacy and numeracy through play, independence with bags and belongings, and plenty of conversation. Children move on confidently to the local public and independent schools Thornleigh families choose.
All food is cooked on site. Dianne prepares five meals a day on a 4-week rotating menu approved under the NSW Munch & Move program. The kitchen is nut-aware and manages allergies and intolerances at the point of cooking, and every meal is covered by the daily fee.
We use the OWNA app for daily updates: photos, meals, sleeps and nappy changes as they happen. New starters settle in gradually, beginning with orientation visits and building up at their own pace, and the app makes those first weeks much easier to follow from work. The centre is rated Meeting under the National Quality Standard.
Daily fees are $185 (Possum, 0-2), $175 (Koala, 2-3), and $164 (Emu, 3-6), with all meals, sunscreen, a bucket hat and the education program included. Disposable nappies and baby formula included for the Possum and Koala rooms. We're Child Care Subsidy approved, so most families pay considerably less than the headline rate. Try the gap-fee calculator on the homepage to estimate your out-of-pocket cost.
Tours run during the week, at quieter moments. We show you all three rooms, the kitchen, the outdoor area, and you meet Jacque and the educators. Tours take about 30 minutes. Book through the form on the homepage, or call us on 02 9487 5455.
