Why Westleigh families come to Normanhurst

Westleigh families value the easy run down through Thornleigh to our centre, just off Pennant Hills Road. Drop-off in the morning before the commute is straightforward, and many families pair preschool here with primary school options on the same side of the line.

The practical details help too. We open at 7am and close at 6pm, Monday to Friday, with parking on site, and the all-inclusive fee covers meals, sunscreen, a bucket hat, and nappies and formula for the under-threes. Mornings stay simple: drop off, sign in, head off.

About the centre

Normanhurst Child Care Centre is a long day care centre on Denman Parade, a short drive through Thornleigh from Westleigh. We've been here since October 1997. 3 age-banded rooms (Possum 0-2, Koala 2-3, Emu 3-6), a long-tenured team with several Early Childhood Teacher qualifications between them, and our own cook preparing all meals on site daily.

Centre Director Jacque has been with us since 2006. Educational Leaders Hayley and Rochelle have both been here for over 20 years. Westleigh families often choose us specifically for the team continuity, with several educators here for over 20 years.

What each room offers

The centre has 48 places across three rooms. Babies from 6 weeks settle into the Possum Room with 1 educator for every 4 children. The Koala Room takes 2 to 3 year olds at 1 educator to 5, full of language, sand and early friendships. The Emu Room, for 3 to 6 year olds at 1 educator to 10, runs the school-readiness program in the year before kindergarten, so children arrive at the local public and independent schools Westleigh families choose with confidence.

Lunch is cooked here

Our cook Dianne makes five meals a day on site, from a 4-week rotating menu approved under the NSW Munch & Move program. The kitchen is nut-aware and handles allergies and intolerances directly in the kitchen, and all meals are included in the fee. After the drive down from Westleigh, there is nothing to carry in but your child.

Keeping you in the loop

New children settle in over orientation visits before their first full day, with the pace set by your child. From then on, the OWNA app gives you photos and updates on meals, sleeps and nappies as the day goes on. Director Jacque, who holds two early childhood degrees, plans the settling-in schedule with each new family. We have been part of this pocket of the upper north shore since 1997 and are rated Meeting under the National Quality Standard.

Daily fees and Child Care Subsidy

Daily fees are $185 (Possum, 0-2), $175 (Koala, 2-3), and $164 (Emu, 3-6), with all meals, sunscreen, a bucket hat and the education program included. Disposable nappies and baby formula included for the Possum and Koala rooms. We're Child Care Subsidy approved, so most families pay considerably less than the headline rate. Try the gap-fee calculator on the homepage to estimate your out-of-pocket cost.
